  1. Hi Andy,
hearing the morse code brings back fond memories.
I sailed as a merchant ship radio operator many years ago. Educated in Norway. Was a yl then. I want to take th ham radio license, all of them. I live in Sillicon Valley California and are looking for a good prep class or online course. Use a Mac computer. Do you have any suggestion ? Love your YouTube lessons. Take care and thank you

  2. Hi, Andy.

First of all, thank you for your work and your kindness in sharing with us.

I have trouble telling the difference between S, 5 and H. Before learing H, the difference between S and 5 was obvious; now it's a bit difficult. Do you have any tips?

    Thanks for everything.

    1. Practice, with regular rest intervals. That way you'll avoid PBO(Premature Burnout)!

    2. Thanks for the reply, anonymous. But I have done so! In fact I repeat each new lesson more than 5 times and there are several times I have started from the beginning. I find that at some point I merely remember the sequence and thus differentiate between 5, H, S. I find it quite difficult.

  3. I bought myself a practice straight key and I then tap out my transcript of the day's lesson. Seems to help to get it sink in. (Don't know what my neighbours think I'm doing though!)

  4. I've known Morse Code since the Boy Scouts, sending by flag at ~6wps which is about tops for flag sending. Key is much faster. Use all the Ham Whisper lessons 1-11, then use Morse Code Translator.com. Suggest 23wpm with very slow sending intervals, ie, ~4 seconds between characters, then gradually shorten the distance between these intervals.

  5. I was killing it until lesson 5. Now I do the random run for about three days before moving on, but I'm getting there.

  6. After 50 plus years of no cw contacts, I find your course just what I needed to relearn and engage in cw again. I know your course has been online for some time but it sure is what I needed just at this time. Thanks for putting all together.
